Recycling Cart Program

Kankakee Disposal and the Village of Chebanse are pleased to bring you recycling carts for your new household curbside recycling program.

Each resident will recieve a green 95-gallon recycle cart. These carts are on wheels and have lids, which help keep the community clean by stopping contents from blowing around. All carts are owned by Kankakee Disposal. Seriel numbers have been recorded and designated to each address. Please do not put your address on your carts.

Here are some things you should know about your new recycle program:

Recycling

  • The new green recycle cart will be picked up EVERY OTHER WEEK on TUESDAY. Please have your cart at the curb by 6am.
  • The cart is for recycleables only. No garbage or yard waste. 
  • Please place your cart at the curb per the instructions on the cart.

Garbage

The brown garbage cart will continue to be picked up EVERY WEEK on your regular pick up day. All garbage must be placed at the curb by 6am.

  • If you have extra garbage that does not fit in the cart, you can place it in your own cans or bags and set it next to your cart on garbage day.
  • They will also continue to take on large item per week at no extra charge.
  • The brown cart is to be used for garbage only – NO yard waste or recyclables.
  • Please be sure all garbage is places in garbage bags before you put it in your cart. This helps reduce odor and keeps materials from blowing out of the cart when it gets emptied. Placing your garbage in bags also helps maintain the cleanliness of the cart.

Yard Waste

  • Yard waste will continue to be picked up EVERY WEEK on WEDNESDAYS. (April 1st – November 30th only)
  • Yard waste can be placed in yard waste paper bags with yard waste stickers.
